but few are able to speak correctly. This is severely limiting because it is a basic human
need to communicate. It also deprives you from understanding how this wonderfully rich
language works and from achieving satisfaction when you can reproduce your own Portuguese.
When embarking on learning any language, there are several factors which are going to affect
the learning process.
You can answer these few questions for yourself to see just how your experiences will vary
from the next person’s.
* How many people will you be studying with? (It is much better to be in a class of between
four and six people so that everyone has plenty of practice)
* How much of your own time are you willing/able to put in practising the language on the
Portuguese people?
* Are you used to studying?
* Do you want to achieve an in-depth knowledge of Portuguese or just use a few phrases?
There are undoubtedly many other aspects which come in to play. You will be able to see that
everyone’s situation is different and it is at this point that an experienced teacher is
committed to meeting the needs of individual pupils, by coming together, with no outside
distractions, to enjoy the experience of learning a foreign language.
